Motivation

Stuttgart, being located in Baden-Württemberg, where the Biogas movement started is the most adequate place to offer experts, scientists, practitioners and interested people from all over the world an intensive knowledge exchange in the country of the current "world leader" in biogas. That is why Stuttgart is the ideal framework to organize the international conference "Progress in Biogas."

How to get there:

The University of Hohenheim is in the south of Stuttgart - only a few minutes away from the airport, the Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre, and the autobahn. The University is around 10 km away from the city center and can be reached within 30 minutes using public transportation.

 

By Car

From Karlsruhe, Munich, Stuttgart Airport (A8) or Singen (A81)

 

Coming from Stuttgart town centre:
At Charlottenplatz (near the "Schloss" palace) turn from the B14 road (Konrad-Adenauer-Straße) into B27 (Charlottenstraße) and carry straight on. The road will become a dual carriageway later on. Take exit S-Hohenheim. Follow the signs for S-Plieningen/S-Hohenheim for some kilometres until you reach S-Plieningen. Turn left towards Hohenheim university. At next opportunity turn right. Follow the street until you reach the car park.

Coming from Stuttgart Airport/Karlsruhe/Heilbronn:
Motorway A8, exit Stuttgart-Flughafen/S-Hohenheim, keep left and follow signs towards S-Hohenheim. In Plieningen turn left towards Universität Hohenheim. When you reach the traffic circle, take the first exit. Follow the street until you reach the car park.

Coming from Munich:
Motorway A8, exit S-Plieningen/S-Hohenheim, keep right and follow signs towards S-Hohenheim. After approx. 4 km turn left towards Universität Hohenheim. After a sharp bend you will reach the university car park.

 

By taxi from the airport

It takes about 10 Minutes by taxi to get to the University, depending on the traffic. It should cost about 15 Euros.

 

By Public transport

From Stuttgart Airport

With bus 79 starting directly in front of Terminal 1 you reach the bus stop Plieningen within 12 minutes.

 

From Stuttgart railway station

From the main station at Stuttgart (the "Hauptbahnhof") take an S-Bahn S1, S2 or S3 to Vaihingen, and then switch to the Stadtbahn U3 until the final stop Plieningen. Or at Stuttgart main station, take the Stadtbahn U5 or U6 to Möhringen and then the Stadtbahn U3 to Plieningen until the final stop. Both routes take around 30 minutes.

 

Travel and Accommodation:

All participants and speakers have to organise and finance their travel and accommodation themselves.

Please be aware that some countries require a visa to enter Germany. If you need an invitation letter please let us know in time.

City tour 1 (March 11): Lichtenstein Castle and Outlet City Metzingen

The Lischtenstein Castle is a historic castle located at the edge of the Swabian Alps in Baden-Württemberg, about 1 hour by car from the University of Hohenheim.

The Outlet City Metzingen is located about half an hour by car from the University of Hohenheim.

 

City tour 2 (March 11): Castle Ludwigsburg and Mercedes-Benz Museum

The Ludwigsburg Castle is located about forty five minutes by car from the University of Hohenheim. It is a great example of a baroque style castle.

The Mercedes-Benz Museum presents the 125 years-history of the automobile industry in 16.500 m2 exhibition area. It is located inside the city of Stuttgart.
